WHO CONTACTS A BRASS BAND?
Well, firstly, we like brass players to contact us because we want the band to continue building up our strength in numbers. So if you are a brass player from beginner to mature, a player looking to return to playing again, a player with another band looking for a change and a challenge, a student in the Torbay area wanting to experience the brass band music scene.
Secondly, we like people to contact us who can give their support to the band through a variety of ways. Obviously supporting the band at concerts at the indoor and out door venues is one, selling tickets, getting posters put up, fund raising, collecting, the list is endless. Our band is best described as a public subscription band, as we rely on public subscriptions and members fund raising to raise the funds necessary to keep the band playing.
Thirdly, we like people to contact the band who wish to book us for an event. Not much point in rehearsing if we do not get any invitations to play at. We also like people who might like to sponsor the band, company or individually to contact us. Also anyone considering leaving the band a legacy in their will. All our financial support has to be raised by the band and to that end the members work extremely hard.
